A review of: Impact by Douglas Preston

So let me start by saying this is my first book by the author. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Overall it was a good story, but I was hung up on a few things. Like others had mentioned, the Pakistani angle really just came out of nowhere and seemed somewhat thrown in, maybe in place of another idea he decided not to run down either for page count sake or some other reason like transitioning it to the topic of another work.

I got a pretty good visualization of the action scenes from his writing style. The chase from the hotel, and the boat ramming were two good examples. The writing style really made me feel more like I was watching it or talking with an really animated friend about it, not just reading.

Solid win from me. I’ll definitely be checking out more from Mr. Preston.
